    Dancing Shoes

    Hello Fellow Dancers,

For those of you who don"t know me yet, I am called the Dancing Shoe lady, and I am in Calgary quite often to sell shoes. I have a large variety of mainly european manufactured quality ballroom dance shoes, and for those of you looking for that extra special shoe design, you are welcome to browse our catalogues. There is much available. Allow approx 3 months for special orders.

I have nearly 20 years experience fitting people, and really love what I do. I started out as a serious hobby dancer and competed a fair amount in pro/am, and yes I would dearly love to find a "vertically" enhanced dance partner for lessons and such,(but I am getting off topic here at the moment), If I hadn"t been a passionate dancer, I might have taken a different career path. I am happy to answer questions, and if you want to come to Edmonton, and enjoy the experience of a personal shoe fitting just call 1 - 2 days in advance to make sure I am in town. To browse our website for a sample of some of what I carry, please visit www.tic.ab.ca/boots. or email inquiries to dshoes@tic.ab.ca. Thank you for your time.........dshoes

    Re: Dancing Shoes

Do you guys do custom made stylish shoes? I'm looking for something that looks like dress shoes and not the regular narrow dance shoe.

    Re: Dancing Shoes

Is there any such thing called ballroom dance shoe flats? Flat shoes instead of heels. The reason I ask is that I enjoy dancing and find that most of the shoes are high heels - the dilemma is that I am over 6 feet tall and I find that heels make me too tall. Bad enough I have some dance partners come up to my nose, but to bust level, it creeps me out.

You can try jazz runners, which are just like runners but have a split sole for pointing your toes.  They don't have the metal shank for support of your arch, and they don't have suede bottoms, but I use them for light, social dancing and group lessons occassionally.

I have bought shoes from Dorthea (above) for about 7 years now and she is great.  She goes out of her way to help, and always has a great selection.  Thanks Dorthea!

    Re: Dancing Shoes

    Hello,

I totally understand. I too am "vertically" enhanced, however that doesn"t stop me from wearing a 2" heel regardless of who I am dancing with.

It is better for latin and swing dancing to have a small heel to set your body balance slightly forward(latin body position). Having said that, there are a few styles that come pretty flat, however this would be a special order. Contact Dancing Shoes dshoes@tic.ab.ca for further details. The sneaker is also definitely a flat shoe with an indoor/outdoor rubber sole. Regards....DT

As far I am concerned there are shoes for dancing and convenience  to what ever dance they do.I mean there several dances in which every dance have their specific shoes.
